The Community Institute of Technology (CIT) is a non-profit organization established in 2013. It is registered with the Government under the Meghalaya Societies Registration Act, XII of 1983, vide Registration No. SR/CIT-8/13 of 2013, and is also recognized by the Government of India. Furthermore, CIT holds an ISO 9001:2005 certification.
CIT is an empanelled training partner of the Government of Meghalaya through the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) for the implementation of skill training programs across the state. It also serves as a Vocational Training Provider for Mangalayatan University, a NAAC Grade A+ accredited institution, delivering practical and industry-oriented skill training programs.
CIT identifies itself as a community service and development institution, dedicated to providing quality education—both technical and non-technical—through formal and non-formal learning methods. It offers vocational education, skill development, and computer training to learners within the community, with a special focus on marginalized groups in both rural and urban areas.
In recent years, CIT has expanded its scope to include large-scale, grassroots-level project implementation in diverse sectors such as integrated farming systems, organic farming, livestock management and training, agricultural extension, agri-business development, rural livelihood promotion, health and nutrition, training and capacity building, and financial literacy.
